Middleware Administrator; Scripting

Job Summary

Middleware Engineer with strong scripting skills and having cloud exposure will be an added advantage.

• Design, configure, and maintain middleware platforms like Web Sphere, Liberty, JBoss, Apache tomcat.
• Automate regular tasks using scripting Shell, Jython, Python.
• Monitor and optimize middleware performance, availability, and scalability.
• Implement security policies and ensure compliance across middleware components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve middleware-related issues in production and non-production environments.
• Install, configure, and maintain IBM Web Sphere Application Server (WAS) and related products like WAS Base, Liberty, IHS, Jboss.
• Strong hands‑on experience with IBM Web Sphere App Server V8.5.x, 9.0.x, Liberty 24.x, 25.x, JBoss 7.4.x, JDK versions.
• Manage and automate deployments using IBM Urban Code Deploy (UCD) and maintain UCD components.
• Troubleshoot deployment and runtime issues related to WAS & Liberty applications.
• Monitor server & JVM performance and application logs, perform root cause analysis and tuning.
• Troubleshoot environment and application‑related issues and coordinate with development and infrastructure teams.
• Apply security patches and upgrades as necessary to maintain system security and compliance.
• Implement SSL certificate installations in middleware layer and troubleshoot access or OKTA authentication issues.
• Good experience in Puppet tools to run patching scripts or schedule restart jobs.

Annual salary: $79,000 – $92,000 + bonus depending on experience and other qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
