As a Lead Dev Ops Engineer
, you will be at the heart of our mission to deliver secure, resilient, and high‑performing services that support millions of users. You’ll join a large, diverse team of engineers and help shape our Dev Ops strategy and transform the future of digital services.

Security Clearance is essential and you must have lived in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years. The role also requires participation in a 24/7/365 on‑call rota.
While the team is based in Cardiff, hybrid contracts are standard; remote contracts may be considered if commuting is not practicable.
Key Responsibilities- Release, maintenance, upgrades, and automation of services.
- Resolve Service Now incident issues and conduct root‑cause analysis.
- Develop projects that improve the range and quality of digital services.
- Contribute to the transformation of company systems during times of great change.
- Support the recently migrated AWS cloud estate.
- Develop management skills as part of your career development.
- Coach and mentor other IT professionals.
- Network and engage with stakeholders to deliver improvements.
- Participate in the on‑call rota (24/7/365).
- Incident/Problem resolution and root‑cause analysis.
- Problem resolution via coding and scripting.
- Ad-hoc reporting and data management.
- Proven experience in an IT environment, preferably Ops, and leading a technical team.
- System software build and release – automation of manual processes, including code deployment and environment provisioning.
- Setting up performance monitoring, alerting, and tuning for web‑based services and APIs.
- Coaching and support for non‑functional requirements, ensuring availability, security, capacity, and performance for services.
- Continuous improvement activities with cross‑team collaboration.
- Excellent customer focus, communication, and networking skills.
- Mentoring and leading less experienced team members.
- Unix/Linux in a support or development environment.
- Dev Ops and associated technologies – continuous delivery, agile Scrum.
- Supporting infrastructure in the cloud.
- Database querying.
- Coding (any type).
- AWS, Java, Terraform, Concourse, Ansible, Docker, JSON, SQL, GIT, Tibco iProcess, Doc1 (experience in similar technologies will be considered).
