The Digital Accessibility Consultant will support and institutionalize the Digital Accessibility Helpdesk, strengthen UNICEF’s digital accessibility efforts, and advance commitments under the 2030 Disability Inclusion Policy and Strategy. Co‑supervised by the Global Programme Division (GPD) Disability Section and the Digital Impact Division (DID), the consultant will contribute to scaling disability‑inclusive programming across development and humanitarian contexts.

• Institutionalize Digital Accessibility Procedures and Processes, including documentation and standardized workflows.
• Advocate for and integrate accessibility into key systems such as procurement, ICTD digital solutions, and the T4D Digital Technology Playbook.
• Implement an Accessibility Classification system to assess, monitor, and prioritize initiatives.
• Provide technical support for accessibility audits of websites, mobile apps, and digital content and offer remediation guidance.
• Support the day‑to‑day operations of the Accessibility Helpdesk, resolving tickets and providing recommendations.
• Develop and deliver training on digital accessibility and produce content for internal knowledge sites.
• Build and maintain partnerships with UN agencies and external stakeholders to share best practices.
• Co‑create and promote accessibility guidelines, standards, and best practices in close collaboration with internal teams and external experts.

• Proficient user of at least two major screen readers and at least one smartphone or tablet screen reader.
• Strong communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• High proficiency in office applications with accessibility features (Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Edge, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Firefox).
• Experience managing projects, tracking progress, and liaising with multiple teams.
• Experience with AI, particularly Generative AI, and its implications for accessibility.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in other UN languages is a plus.
