Description

biBerk is building a cloud-first, API driven, dynamic insurance platform that enables customers to purchase insurance policies directly online. Expanding our team, we are adding a well-rounded, seasoned Database Administrator to play a key role in ensuring integrity and availability across our database ecosystem.

This role combines deep database system expertise with a heavy focus on individual contribution and achievement, working closely with development, product and technology teams to support their efforts and ensure biBerk’s database systems are performing efficiently. This role will report to the Database Services Team Lead, supporting a wide range of database related activity.

• Design database solutions to meet business objectives while fitting into the enterprise platform ecosystem
• Adopt a customer-experience focused mindset
  , taking ownership of problems and solutions, being proactive to ensure the success of the team, colleagues and customers.
• Provide innovative problem-solving skills, thinking outside the box
• Manage, maintain, configure, monitor and administer Microsoft Database Management Systems (DBMS);
  Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Microsoft SQL Server (2016+)
• Collaborate with the Product team to ensure that requirements are understood, and short-term and long-term business objectives are met
• Help promote a center-of-excellence (COE) mindset with respect to database technologies, philosophies and practices.
• Follow department-wide technical, process, and quality standards while contributing to their improvement
• Help promote a security first mindset within the Database Services team
• Help promote Infrastructure as Code (
  IaC
  ) philosophies where applicable
• Help create technical documentation and content
• Design, write and fine-tune scripts using relevant querying languages to transform or fix data characteristics as necessary within SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, and Azure Cosmos DB

Required General Knowledge &

Experience:

• Diligent work ethic

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
• Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent working experience
• 10+ Years of proven experience in a similarly defined role, preferably one that was heavily exposed to and integrated with scrum-style Agile concepts
• Collaborative experience supporting large software development projects across multiple agile teams
• Ability to work from 8:00AM-4:30PM eastern time, this is currently a full-time remote position
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours requests

Required Technical

Skills & Experience:

• Experience operating within scrum-style Agile sprint ceremonies
  .
• Equal aptitude managing the Microsoft / Azure DBMS platform suite
• Ability to write and understand T‑SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers
• Experience working with RDBMS tables, views and other core objects
• Ability to troubleshoot complex query performance issues using industry standard tools and methodologies
• Experience extracting, transforming and loading data to / from various platforms and SDLC environments, using industry standard ETL tools (
  ADF, SSIS
  , etc.)
• Experience managing Azure Cosmos DB accounts and containers (
  Core SQL API
  )
• Experience writing complex T‑SQL statements to retrieve varied types of information
• Experience with Azure Dev Ops

• Experience managing security and access within Microsoft DBMS platforms
