You’ll thrive in a culture of belonging where you and your unique viewpoint matter. By harnessing Danaher’s system of continuous improvement, you help turn ideas into impact innovating at the speed of life.

The Senior Director of Data & AI is responsible for the strategy and lead execution for how data science and advanced analytics power our diagnostic products and evidence generation. Reporting to the Chief Data Officer (CDO), you will lead a multi-disciplinary team that partners across the CIO organization, university collaborations, and our Operating Companies (OpCos) to deliver AI-enabled products, accelerate clinical and HEOR evidence, and strengthen our data platform.

This position reports to the Vice President, Chief Data Officer Digital Products Development and is part of the Chief Innovation Office and will be fully remote.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Lead and mentor a high‑performing team of data scientists and AI engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, rigor, and continuous learning.
  • Run a portfolio of cross‑functional projects with clear stage gates, use cases, and risk management; manage diagnostic OpCo and academic partner relationships.
  • Communicate impact to executive, clinical, and technical audiences through clear narratives, publications/white papers, and forums with department leaders.
  • Set direction and standards for Data & AI across the Diagnostics Platform; integrate Enterprise and cross‑OpCo community of practice.
  • Continuously scan the horizon for emerging methods/technologies (foundation models, multimodal AI, synthetic data, privacy‑enhancing tech) and integrate when beneficial.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across R&D, regulatory, commercial, and academic partners to translate insights into action.
The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (PhD preferred; Masters considered).
  • 12+ years in data science/AI with 5+ years in leadership roles in diagnostics, medtech, biopharma, or healthcare.
  • Deep understanding of clinical development for diagnostics (analytical/clinical validation, study design, performance endpoints) and how AI augments these workflows.
  • Hands‑on expertise with Python/R and core libraries; strong command of statistical modeling, large language models, survival/longitudinal analyses, and data visualization.
  • Proven experience with RWE/RWD (EHR, claims, registries, labs/device telemetry) to inform clinical, regulatory, and market access decisions.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Background in oncology, infectious diseases, acute care, and/or neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Publications in high‑impact journals or conferences; ability to translate complex analyses into manuscripts, white papers, and executive narratives.
  • Experience deploying ML at scale on Azure and modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Delta Lake, MLflow).
