Team Overview:At Edward Jones our Data Security team is security developing controls, requirements and architecture patterns that empowers the firm to innovate securely by embedding resilient, regulation‑aligned security practices across all data environments, and fostering a culture where confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data are foundational to business success. In a Senior Security Solution Engineering role, you will be expected to facilitate and lead cross‑functional data security projects and forums.
Working with a diverse array of stakeholders, you will advise on technical data security requirements for the firm's data governance, privacy, protection, and risk platforms. This is an exceptional challenge and opportunity for someone who is excited for rapid change and continuous learning.
- Advise governance, privacy and legal teams to define and maintain classification schemas and metadata tagging/labeling policies.
- Lead testing & evaluation, deployment, and management data security platform solutions.
- Provide direction and technical leadership working closely with stakeholders to guide deployment of new data security‑related solutions.
- Create a strong team environment and builds technical skills through training and mentoring others.
- Provide subject matter expertise and assistance to debug and correct internal and external data security related infrastructure problems.
- Create and maintain security policies, requirements, and architecture patterns for use in ongoing support and future efforts that require modifications or upgrades to the infrastructure.
- Minimum 10 years in data security, cybersecurity, or cloud security engineering roles.
- Experience with data security engineering in financial services industry (preferred).
- Experience deploying through automated deployment pipelines data discover & classification, data loss prevention, and security monitoring platforms.
- Experience with data protection encryption techniques (at rest, in transit, field‑level), tokenization, masking, and anonymization and data classification and tagging strategies for sensitive data (e.g., PII, PHI, PAN, etc.).
- Experience securing AI/LLM systems (preferred).
- Experience supporting audits, risk assessments, and regulatory exams (preferred).
- Experience working with governance & privacy, data engineering, Dev Ops, compliance, and legal teams with the ability to translate technical risks into business impact for stakeholders.
- Ability to influence team leaders, program managers, and associates in a matrix organization.
- Understanding of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and securing data in microservices.
- Understanding of zero trust architecture and identity‑aware data access.
- Understanding of insider threat detection, UEBA, and anomaly detection techniques.
- Strong working knowledge of NIST SP 800‑53 and NIST CSF.
- Familiarity with GLBA, SOX, FFIEC, and NYDFS 500 series regulations.
