AboutThe Role
We seek a Senior System Administrator – Network Operation Center to support our federal government customer. This hybrid remote position requires onsite work at the customer’s location and is contingent on contract award.
Responsibilities- Review the daily checklist to ensure services are running as expected.
- Monitor the environment for system anomalies and perform root‑cause analysis as required.
- Document all changes to test, operational, and cloud environments in compliance with customer and Census practices.
- Implement Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs) to support change control and system enhancements.
- Work independently and coordinate with systems administrators to maintain smooth operation of a multi‑user computer system.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control records.
- Review user requests for upgrades or additions and provide advice on the most practical technical approach.
- Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software‑related problems.
- Perform system backups and recovery.
- Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity.
- Use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Perform a variety of tasks as assigned.
- Lead or direct others as required.
- Minimum 8 years of advanced expertise in enterprise‑level network and systems administration.
- Advanced Network Infrastructure Management: configuring, monitoring, and optimizing complex network architectures.
- High‑availability solutions to sustain 99.99% uptime across distributed sites.
- Enterprise Systems Administration: managing Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization platforms.
- Automation tools such as Ansible, Power Shell, and Bash to streamline maintenance and patching.
- Network Monitoring and Incident Response with tools like Solar Winds, Nagios, and Splunk.
- Incident response playbooks and cybersecurity compliance (DISA STIGs, NIST 800‑53).
- Vulnerability scanning, log analysis, SIEM integration.
- Leadership and process optimization in 24x7 NOC operations; establishing SOPs aligned with ITIL best practices.
- Mentoring junior staff and optimizing operational processes.
- Experience installing and upgrading software, performing backups, and maintaining data integrity.
- Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Work under general supervision; typically reports to a project leader.
- Creativity and latitude required.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within this field.
- Leadership or direction of others.
- Preferred: prior experience at a federal government agency.
- Collaborative and independent work ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Pass required federal background screening and obtain government clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications:
Security+ CE, CASP+, CISSP, CCNP Security, CCNP, CCNA, Microsoft Certified:
Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator Associate, ITIL 4 Foundation (highly desired).
