The Integrations, Data Engineering and AI (IDEA) team within Samsara’s Business Technology organization is looking for a Data Operations Engineer to join our team. We enable various teams at Samsara to leverage data and AI to make data-driven decisions by delivering reliable integrations, APIs and data platforms for trustworthy data & analytics. We are a team that are passionate about leveraging quality data and AI to deliver a great customer experience.

The Data Operations Engineer will be responsible for the health, stability, and performance of our production data platform, including data ingestion pipelines, processing jobs, and data warehousing. This role requires a blend of data engineering skills and operational rigor to ensure high availability and data quality for downstream consumers and business intelligence.

This is a remote position and is open to candidates residing in Canada.

• Incident Response: Serve as a primary responder for production data incidents, quickly diagnosing root causes, implementing fixes, and ensuring data integrity.
• Monitoring and Alerting: Design, implement, and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for all production data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Pipeline Management: Manage, deploy, and maintain data and integrations pipelines and APIs.
• Performance Optimization: Continuously identify and implement optimizations to improve the speed, scalability, and efficiency of data processing jobs and API performance.
• Data Quality: Develop and enforce data validation and quality checks within the pipelines to minimize errors and inconsistencies in production data.
• Infrastructure: Collaborate with Dev Ops teams on managing the underlying infrastructure (AWS components) that hosts the data platform.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for all operational procedures, pipeline architectures, and troubleshooting runbooks.
