Billing Engineering Lead

About the role

Entrupy is seeking a Billing Engineering Lead to own and scale our end-to-end billing infrastructure across products, geographies, and customer types. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and business, ensuring that everything from customer onboarding workflows to subscription logic, invoicing, metering, reconciliation, and reporting runs reliably and efficiently.

You will be responsible for coordinating cross-functional efforts between Website developers, Customer Experience (CX), Business Intelligence (BI), Revenue Operations and Finance, while driving architectural and implementation decisions related to billing systems and integrations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex operational challenges, designing clean and scalable systems, and enabling business teams to move fast with confidence.

Location: Bangalore, India (Hybrid)

What You'll Do:

• Own the end-to-end architecture, implementation, and maintenance of Entrupy's billing and subscription systems.
• Lead integrations and workflows across Chargebee, Stripe, Hub Spot, internal dashboards, and customer-facing portals.
• Ensure accurate metering, usage tracking, invoicing, and reconciliation across platforms.
• Implement high-quality engineering practices for monitoring, alerting, auditing, and reliability of billing pipelines.

• Work directly with website contractors to define and implement customer signup flows, pricing pages, forms, and backend integrations.
• Partner closely with CX to resolve billing issues, optimize customer experience, and reduce friction or errors.
• Collaborate with BI to ensure data accuracy, schema consistency, and reporting pipelines for revenue, churn, and cohort analytics.
• Support Revenue Operations and Finance by automating reconciliation processes, improving auditability, and ensuring alignment with accounting policies.

• Design and build high-quality services and automation in Python, using AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, Dynamo
  
  DB, S3, and cloud-native pipelines.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, technical documentation, service ownership, and SLAs.
• Manage internal and external contributors - including contractors - ensuring on-time delivery and strong technical standards.

What you bring:

• 8-10 years of engineering experience, including ownership of billing or payments systems.
• Strong experience with Chargebee, Stripe, Hub Spot, or equivalent subscription/payment platforms.
• Proficiency in Python, REST APIs, and building integrations across SaaS tools.
• Solid understanding of AWS architecture and cloud-native development (Lambda, API Gateway, Dynamo
  
  DB, SQS/SNS, Cloud Watch, etc.).
• Strong system design skills with emphasis on scalability, reliability, data integrity, and security.
• Deep understanding of subscription billing, metering, invoicing, dunning, tax handling, and reconciliation workflows.
• Experience defining and maintaining pricing models, discount logic, usage tracking, and contract-based billing.
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to coordinate work across technical and non-technical teams.
