Overview
This role is ideal for a hands-on Project Manager with a strong background in data or analytics engineering projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of data engineering initiatives, working closely with technical teams and business stakeholders. The position requires someone who can translate discussions into actionable tasks, maintain a clear project roadmap, and communicate progress effectively. You will facilitate sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives, adapting processes as needed to fit the team's workflow.
The work involves supporting projects such as data pipelines (ETL/ELT), APIs, integrations, data warehousing, modeling, and data quality monitoring. This is a remote, US-based contract role, starting at 10–20 hours per week, with the potential for long-term collaboration.
- Lead and manage data engineering project delivery, ensuring timelines and priorities are maintained
- Collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders to define project scope and requirements
- Break down work into clear, actionable tasks with acceptance criteria
- Run sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives (or lightweight alternatives)
- Track project timelines, risks, and dependencies, proactively addressing blockers
- Maintain a simple, up-to-date project roadmap
- Provide concise status updates to stakeholders
- Support process improvement and documentation efforts
- Oversee projects involving data pipelines, APIs, integrations, data warehousing (Snowflake, Big Query, Redshift, dbt), and data quality monitoring
- Proven experience managing projects with data or analytics engineering teams
- Strong understanding of technical concepts such as SQL, data schemas, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data warehousing
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical discussions into clear tasks
- Experience with agile methodologies and running sprint ceremonies
- Ability to track and manage project risks, dependencies, and deliverables
- Comfortable working remotely and independently
- Based in the United States
- Availability for 10–20 hours per week, with a preference for long-term engagement
