Database Administrator, Data Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our database environments to ensure high availability,
security, and performance. This role involves performing day-to-day database administration tasks, including backup and restore operations, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
🔧What You’ll Be Working On
- Manage, maintain, and support Oracle database environments in production, test, and development
- Ensure high availability through solid backup, recovery, and disaster recovery practices
- Perform database refreshes and restores between environments as needed
- Provide 24×7 support for mission-critical systems (yes, pager included)
- Monitor database performance and proactively tune systems for speed and stability
- Use SQL diagnostic tools and health check scripts to identify and resolve issues
- Partner with developers to optimize applications and queries
- Troubleshoot complex database and system-level issues—and find the real root cause
- Implement and maintain strong database security controls
- Manage schema changes and database upgrades using SDLC and change control processes
- Document configurations, processes, and best practices
- Work closely with infrastructure, application, and operations teams to safely deploy changes
- Write shell scripts to automate repetitive administrative tasks
- Evaluate new database versions, tools, and features
- Support storage-related activities including SAN/LUN provisioning and troubleshooting
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on experience with Commvault and Avamar for Oracle backups
- Solid knowledge of SQL performance tuning
, diagnostics, and health checks - Strong understanding of database normalization and how to enforce it
- Experience with OS-level and database-level performance tuning
- Shell scripting skills for automation
- Familiarity with SDLC, change control, and deployment processes
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server is a plus
