The SAP FICO Consultant plays a key role in defining financial and controlling processes within Syntax by designing, configuring, and supporting the SAP ecosystem. This position ensures that business objectives are achieved through effective system capabilities, contributing to both project implementations and ongoing operational success.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage end-to-end SAP FICO implementations and enhancements.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective SAP functional solutions within the Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules.
- Configure core FI submodules including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, Taxation, and DRC.
- Configure CO components such as Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, and COPA.
- Ensure seamless integration with other SAP modules including Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), and Human Resources (HR).
- Perform thorough system testing (unit, integration, and UAT) and provide support for issue resolution.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation including functional specifications, test scripts, process maps, and training materials.
- Collaborate with technical teams to develop reports, interfaces, enhancements, and custom developments (ABAP).
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities while identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement.
- Provide user training and post go-live support to business stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted advisor, guiding leadership on SAP FICO best practices and industry standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in SAP FICO configuration and support.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, accounting principles, and controlling practices.
- Experience with SAP ECC or S/4
HANA (S/4
HANA preferred). - Good knowledge of integration with SD, MM, and other SAP modules.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within teams.
- SAP FICO certification.
- Experience with S/4
HANA Financials (Universal Journal, New Asset Accounting). - Exposure to EDI, IDocs, and external financial interfaces.
- Basic knowledge of reporting tools such as Fiori, CDS Views, and BW/4
HANA.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
- SAP FICO Certification is an asset.
