Lead Devops Engineer

Mainly Remote working - 1 to 2 days a month in office (Manchester)

I'm currently working with a client at a pivotal stage of growth and seeking a technically strong AWS professional ready to step into a true Lead role. This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership opportunity to modernise the company’s IT landscape, moving from Windows/Microsoft infrastructure into AWS and eventually serverless architecture.

• Lead the transition from on‑prem Windows/Microsoft systems to a cloud‑first AWS platform
• Define methodologies, governance, and Infrastructure-as-Code standards
• Build and manage a new Platform team, mentoring junior engineers in cloud technologies
• Implement AWS Landing Zones and Terraform‑based infrastructure
• Drive scalability, reliability, and enterprise‑grade security for current and future workloads
• Explore serverless solutions to future‑proof the platform

• Terraform expertise (configuration/compilation; writing from scratch a plus)
• Hands‑on experience with Windows/Microsoft workloads in cloud migration scenarios a strong advantage
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with structured, scalable thinking
• Ambition to step from senior engineer into strategic technical leadership

• Own and modernise the platform end‑to‑end, a rare opportunity for genuine impact
