Senior Geospatial Consultant (based in Scotland) Full Time - Home Working Contract - £52,522.00 to £61,276.00 (dependent on experience) About the Consultancy Team

Our Consultancy team helps Ordnance Survey (OS) and its customers unlock the full value of geospatial data by solving complex, real‑world problems and developing future capabilities. We work with public and private sector organisations, supporting OS’s contractual commitments and specialist contracts.

We combine deep technical expertise with a collaborative, curious mindset. As the expert voice of OS to our customers – and of our customers inside OS – we work closely with other customer‑facing teams. From prototyping new tools to supporting national initiatives, we bring clarity and momentum to every challenge, making our work impactful and meaningful. We’re a flexible, inclusive team that thrives on learning, sharing, and making a difference.

About

the Role

As a Senior Consultant, you’ll lead the development and delivery of impactful geospatial solutions, support customers through post‑sales support and solution design, and mentor others – helping to shape our team culture and capability. You’ll play a visible role in how OS is understood, upholding high ethical standards and operating confidently across complex, mixed‑sector work, including the public sector landscape in Scotland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of high‑quality geospatial engagements and solutions, and serve as a key technical contact for customers, partners, and internal teams
  • Maintain and grow OS’s strong working relationships across Scottish Government and the public sector, ensuring a consistent and trusted OS presence in Scotland. Engage in pre‑sales work (identification of new opportunities in partnership with sales, product & data teams) and post‑sales support to ensure high customer satisfaction and successful delivery of our existing contractual commitments
  • Gather and analyse customer business needs and technical requirements, translating customer insight into intelligence to demonstrate value of geospatial and shape product roadmaps
  • Provide feedback to relevant OS teams on customer needs and product performance
  • Balance specialist/sector knowledge with adaptability to work across a range of domains
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to maximise the impact of OS data and services
  • Represent OS at meetings and events, sharing insights and demonstrating our value as a strategic partner
  • Mentor and support colleagues, building capability across the team
  • Uphold high ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality and proactively identifying potential conflicts of interest
What Sets a Senior Consultant Apart

A Senior Consultant at OS is more than technical delivery – it’s about leadership, influence, and shaping the culture and standards of the team. We’re looking for someone who:

  • Leads and mentors others, building confidence and capability
  • Can represent the Consultancy team and OS with credibility and professionalism
  • Navigates complexity with resilience and good judgement
  • Champions teamwork and collaboration across functions and sectors
  • Adapts to changing priorities and delivery environments
  • Acts with integrity and awareness, especially when working at the interface of public and commercial interests
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience in geospatial consultancy or a closely related field
  • Proven experience and working knowledge of Scottish Government & public sector with a demonstrable track record of customer engagements in Scotland
  • Understanding of Scotland’s government priorities, e.g. planning, infrastructure and data policy landscape, ideally through prior project delivery or advisory work
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A growth mindset and a passion for sharing knowledge
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of geospatial technologies, datasets and services, ideally including OS data products and how to apply them to customer and business challenges

We’re seeking someone with a solid foundation in geospatial technologies and data engineering, able to apply their skills flexibly across a range of customer needs and technical environments –…
