Principal Consultant – Platform Engineering (AWS & Azure)

Fully Remote (UK only)

I’m currently supporting a leading UK cloud consultancy in the search for two Principal Consultants to join their growing Platform Engineering practice:

These are fully remote, permanent roles within a high-performing consultancy delivering complex cloud, Dev Ops, and platform transformations for enterprise clients.

The Opportunity

These are true Principal-level consultancy roles. They are looking for individuals who:

• Come from a strong consultancy background (this is essential)
• Have operated at Principal / Lead Architect level within client-facing environments
• Are comfortable advising CTO/CIO-level stakeholders
• Can define enterprise platform and Dev Ops strategy
• Shape cloud operating models, landing zones, and governance frameworks
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams across complex transformation programmes

This is not a pure engineering role, it requires commercial awareness, stakeholder influence, and the ability to shape and win work as well as deliver it.

What They’re Looking For

• Deep expertise in AWS platform architecture
• Strong background in Terraform/Open Tofu and policy-as-code
• Experience designing CI/CD and Git Ops workflows
• Knowledge of EKS/ECS, serverless architectures, and observability tooling
• Experience shaping multi-account AWS landing zones
• Deep expertise in Azure platform architecture
• Strong experience with Terraform/Bicep and Azure landing zones
• CI/CD design using Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub Actions
• Experience with AKS, Azure Functions, and enterprise governance
• Strong understanding of identity, networking, and security in Azure

For both roles:

• Proven experience in a consultancy environment (non-negotiable)
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and architects
• Commercially aware, outcome-focused mindset
