About

the Role

A full‑time position based at our High Wycombe offices specialising in broadcast networking technology and IP related infrastructure deployed in OB trucks and flypacks, with a key focus of implementing and maintaining a range of solutions across our fleet. This position is primarily based at our outside broadcast HQ but there will be requirements to work at other sites (Watford and White City) and occasional demand for onsite project delivery requiring some domestic or international travel to site.

Our business and clients have become increasingly dependent on IP solutions that operate in harmony with traditional baseband technology and TV production practices, both for onsite and remote operations. You will work with the wider technology leadership team to integrate and manage infrastructure within our outside broadcast and remote working systems, ensuring a high service level of IT based workflows through the application of best practices.

The role primarily involves network engineering skills combined with practical experience / keen interest in systems integration and computer technology within broadcast television.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

You will work with the technology leadership and senior engineering teams from various business units to implement infrastructure solutions to best achieve operational and client objectives:

  • Install and upgrade network infrastructure. With a rapidly increasing demand on networked AV systems and advanced remote production workflows you will install, configure, upgrade and optimise OB networking equipment and topologies.
  • Broadcast IT and monitoring. Deploy and maintain control system servers, applications and commonly used IT monitoring and visualisation tools throughout our fleet.
  • IP systems integration and ST2110. Gain experience and support operational teams in the preparation and delivery of end‑to‑end IP systems including switch fabrics, multicast routing and PTP timing.
  • Ongoing systems maintenance. Assist in troubleshooting broadcast IT hardware, software and networking issues.
  • Collaboration and standards compliance. Work with colleagues to ensure designs and systems align with evolving industry standards and internal company policies.
  • Documentation. Maintain documentation of technical systems and workflows. Version control.

Additionally, there is scope and opportunity within the Broadcast IP Infrastructure Engineer role to participate in internal R&D activities, specifically relating to the ongoing development of control, monitoring and software defined production workflows.

This Role Is For You If
  • Knowledge or a keen interest in networking technology, protocols and equipment.
  • Understanding of layer‑2, layer‑3, multicast and dynamic routing protocols.
  • Operational knowledge of enterprise switch equipment, relevant networking technologies and practices related to management networks used in broadcast television.
  • Experience of Cisco, Arista or Netgear equipment is desirable.
  • An understanding of virtualisation technologies, Microsoft and Linux applications, IT monitoring tools and IT server equipment is desirable.
  • Experience or interest in live TV broadcasting workflows and production practices.
  • An appetite to learn about advanced ST2110 media networks and associated control systems.
