Senior Insights Manager, Marketing & Acquisition

The Senior Insights Manager is responsible for ensuring that TEG utilises the full range of data, analytics and insight expertise to drive new profitable customer acquisition within The Economist’s B2C subscription business.

Responsibilities
  • Marketing science:
    Work with acquisition, finance, marketing, and product teams to measure the effectiveness of paid, owned and earned media, identify opportunities for customer growth and improve Return on Advertising Spend (ROAS).
  • Conversion rate optimisation (CRO):
    Work with acquisition and product teams to measure and optimise traffic volumes, conversion rates and Customer Lifetime Value (CLTV) of B2C websites and apps.
  • Commercial exploitation of data:
    Use reporting, analytics and insight to improve customer acquisition performance; identify opportunities to improve business performance, agility and efficiency through data and analytics.
  • Roadmap ownership:
    Coordinate with the Head of B2C Insights and Decision Science and the delivery team to prioritise all data, analytics and insight priorities; define a joint multidisciplinary roadmap for stakeholders.
  • Team management and development:
    Lead and develop a team of data professionals; create a collaborative, pragmatic, commercially focused culture that delivers outstanding outcomes for TEG.
  • Trusted adviser:
    Build long‑term relationships with key stakeholders, leveraging deep knowledge of B2C products, markets and customers; provide trusted counsel aligned with stakeholder objectives.
Qualifications
  • Data expertise
    :
    Significant practitioner experience across analytics and insight disciplines; proven ability to exploit data for commercial outcomes; understanding of complex, sophisticated data sets across multiple platforms.
  • Technical skills
    : SQL expert, with additional experience in Python and/or R; experience with cloud data platforms, web analytics tools, business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau), marketing data integration platforms (e.g., Supermetrics), media mix modelling (MMM), optimisation tools, propensity modelling, customer data platforms (e.g., Blueconic), A/B testing platforms and causal inference techniques.
  • People management
    :
    Strong coach and manager who inspires the team, sets high standards, and fosters continuous improvement.
  • Communication skills
    :
    Excellent communicator and influencer; articulate problems and solutions clearly; deliver impactful outcomes.
  • Stakeholder partnership
    :
    Effective cross‑functional stakeholder manager; skilled at synthesising information and mobilising matrix teams.
Working Arrangements

The majority of roles operate on a hybrid working pattern with 3+ days office attendance required.
