Cyber Security Data Operations Engineer - Associate

About this role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Data Operations Engineer to join Black Rock's Technology & Operations organization. This role sits within a team responsible for building reliable, secure, and observable data pipelines in a highly regulated environment. You will work closely with technology, operations, and information security partners to deliver data products that enable transparency, automation, and risk‑informed decision making at scale.

The ideal candidate is an engineer at heart, comfortable working end‑to‑end across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and governance who values clean design, strong documentation, and operational excellence.

• Lead requirements gathering sessions and understand business priorities for design and solutioning of applications for the Cyber Security team.
• Own and manage a data analytics application roadmap, prioritizing features against business needs.
• Build KPIs, KRIs, and dashboards in a low‑code cyber security data analytics platform.
• Design and recommend functional solutions using best practices.
• Develop cross‑functional relationships with the Cyber Security teams to prioritize new features and metrics based on business impact.
• Build custom reports to support product enhancements.
• Capture business requirements, translate them into requirements for architects and developers, and prioritize them.
• Ensure requirements evolve into user documentation such that they are simultaneously published as features get released.
• Drive adoption of new features for systems by working closely with engineers and organizing/participating in user acceptance testing.
• Document data requirements and interfaces between all teams.
• Ensure data interfaces between all teams are fully documented and agreed.
• Provide support to business users by generating ad‑hoc reports, investigating potential issues with data flow, and researching the viability of suggested improvements.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Excellent writing and editing skills combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills.
• Basic understanding of SaaS platforms and technology systems.
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle.
• Two plus years of related experience working in financial services, technology, or cyber security in business process improvement, engineering, project, or product management.
• Experience in product management, project management, or business analysis.
• Experience working with systems developers in an external vendor organization, preferably in an agile environment.

• Experience with databases and writing simple SQL queries.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and present data to different audiences.
• Ability to understand a process at a high level while drilling into details.
• Thorough understanding of process mapping, data collection, data analysis, procedure writing, and writing effective requirements documentation.
