Royal London is hiring a Senior Accessibility Specialist to join our growing Design Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accessibility specialist passionate about removing barriers by proactively shaping inclusive digital experiences with the wider team.
ResponsibilitiesIn this hands‑on role, you will be aligned to several agile teams and act as their accessibility specialist, ensuring their outputs are accessible. You will be influencing their approach to inclusive design and development and will take the lead on accessibility testing of digital artefacts. This may cover a combination of websites and applications, native mobile apps, PDFs and other digital artefacts.
You will collaborate closely with designers and developers, confirm that designs are accessible before implementation and provide expertise throughout the product lifecycle. Using both manual and automated evaluation methods, you will identify accessibility issues as early as possible in the lifecycle and deliver clear, actionable guidance to development teams. Your input will directly shape products that support our customers and create meaningful impact for users with impairments.
- Lead manual and automated accessibility audits across websites, native apps, and other digital artefacts.
- Evaluate digital products against WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Collaborate with design team colleagues to embed accessibility into design artefacts.
- Partner with developers to resolve accessibility issues and optimise code.
- Use assistive technologies such as NVDA, Voice Over, Talk Back, Zoom Text and Dragon.
- Deliver clear, actionable reports and guidance to technical teams.
- Champion accessibility awareness through events like GAAD and internal workshops.
- Clear communicator, able to explain accessibility principles, issues, and solutions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proven expertise in conducting accessibility audits, generating detailed reports, and delivering actionable recommendations.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify common accessibility barriers and advise on best‑practice solutions.
- Technical proficiency in WCAG 2.2, ARIA roles, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Hands‑on experience with assistive technologies including NVDA, Talk Back, Voice Over, Zoom Text and Dragon.
- Skilled in accessibility testing using tools such as Axe, CCA, and Siteimprove browser extension.
