At Syngenta Crop Protection, we're pioneering solutions that safeguard global food security while championing sustainable agriculture. As a world market leader headquartered in Switzerland, we empower farmers with innovative crop protection technologies that defend against nature's toughest challenges. We unite advanced science with digital solutions to develop intelligent crop protection that maximizes yields while minimizing environmental impact. At Syngenta, we use AI, data and advanced analytics to design the next generation of crop protection solutions to help feed the world. Our Crop Protection Digital R&D team is seeking an Information Management & Intelligence Lead to define and drive how R&D transforms scientific information into actionable intelligence at a global scale. The preferred location is our Jealott's Hill office on a Hybrid basis, but a remote contract could be considered for the right candidate.

Accountabilities
  • Define and own the R&D Information & Knowledge Strategy and roadmap, aligned with digital transformation and AI priorities
  • Partner with Digital and Data Leads and senior R&D leaders to align knowledge products with strategic priorities. Translate complex scientific knowledge needs and prioritized use cases into technical solutions and communicate roadmap and value to leadership
  • Own end-to-end information pipelines — from unstructured data ingestion (publications, lab notebooks, regulatory submissions) to exploitable context layer and knowledge bases powered by NLP, LLMs and Agentic AI workflows
  • Procure and deliver scientific information services, competitive intelligence tools and literature mining platforms, including vendor management
  • Set governance standards for information quality, lineage and lifecycle across CP R&D, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, IP and data security
  • Lead cross-functional matrix teams in Agile delivery of knowledge mining use cases, championing a data-centric culture
Required Qualifications
  • Proven leadership of information, knowledge management or R&D intelligence programs in science-driven organisations (life-sciences or chemical industry) — backgrounds in data science, scientific content services, informatics or publishing are all relevant
  • Demonstrated hands‑on expertise with NLP, text mining and Agentic AI-powered knowledge extraction and mining of scientific, technical or regulatory content
  • Strong understanding of data engineering platforms (e.g. Databricks, AWS, data lakehouse architectures)
  • Excellent stakeholder management and matrix leadership skills across scientific, technical and senior audiences
  • Master's degree in STEM, Data Science, Information Science or related discipline
Desired Qualifications
  • Expertise in knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic search and vector databases
  • Experience with scientific informatics platforms, tools and workflows
  • PhD degree in a relevant STEM or Informatics field
