Solutions Engineering Team Lead Belfast | Hybrid | Permanent MCS Group is delighted to be partnering with an innovative and rapidly growing technology company as they continue to expand their Solutions Engineering function. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced technical leader to join a business at the forefront of AI innovation. You'll play a key role in helping organisations solve complex challenges through bespoke software and AI-powered solutions, whilst leading and developing a high-performing team of engineers and solution specialists.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering leadership, solutions architecture, technical consulting and delivery. It would suit someone who enjoys working closely with both customers and engineering teams, helping shape technical strategy whilst remaining close enough to technology to influence architectural decisions.

The Role As a Solutions Engineering Team Lead, you'll be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams delivering AI-powered applications across a range of complex projects. You'll work closely with customers, internal stakeholders and engineering teams to define solutions, oversee delivery and ensure technical excellence throughout the development lifecycle. This is not a traditional engineering management position. The successful candidate will combine strong leadership skills with a consultative mindset and a solid technical foundation.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and develop a team of Solutions Engineers and technical specialists
* Work directly with customers to understand business challenges and define technical solutions
* Drive architecture and technical decision making across multiple projects
* Oversee delivery from discovery and proof of concept through to production deployment
* Collaborate with product, engineering and commercial teams to ensure successful outcomes
* Help establish best practices, standards and delivery processes
* Support hiring and team growth as the organisation continues to scale
* Champion the adoption of AI technologies and modern engineering approaches What We're Looking For
* Previous experience leading technical teams within a software, consultancy or scale-up environment
* Strong background in solutions architecture, technical consulting or customer-facing delivery
* Software engineering background with experience in Python or similar technologies
* Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
* Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
* Experience delivering modern software platforms and applications
* Passion for emerging technologies, AI and innovation

Desirable Experience
* Generative AI, LLMs or AI-powered applications
* Agent frameworks, RAG or knowledge-based systems
* Containerisation technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
* Experience working within regulated industries
