Database Administrator (DBA) - Up to £550 per day Outside IR35 - Edinburgh (Remote)
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION WITH OCCASIONAL ON-SITE ATTENDANCE AS REQUIRED IN EDINBURGH
One of Lorien’s leading Public Sector clients is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team on an initial 12 month contract with a possible 12 month extension
Key Responsibilities- Administering and supporting SQL Server environments across development, test and production
- Managing and optimising Azure Cosmos DB workloads for performance and scalability
- Identifying and resolving database performance issues impacting legacy systems
- Improving query performance, indexing strategies and reducing latency
- Implementing monitoring, alerting and capacity planning improvements
- Ensuring data security, access control and compliance with GDPR standards
- Supporting modernisation of data platforms and ongoing service improvements
Skills & Experience:
- Strong SQL Server DBA experience within live production environments
- Proven expertise in performance tuning and resolving database bottlenecks
- Hands‑on experience with Azure Cosmos DB (including indexing and partitioning)
- Understanding of HA/DR principles and database resilience
- Experience working in collaborative engineering or delivery teams
- Ideally exposure to public sector or highly regulated environments
