Global Technology Liaison - Semiconductor R&D and Academic Collaboration

Experteer Overview  In this role you will lead Renesas global technology liaison activities with top research institutes and universities, shaping mid- to long-term semiconductor opportunities aligned with our strategic direction. You’ll bridge external partners and internal teams, driving joint research and technology roadmaps. You will present technical insights at international forums and build a trusted, cross-regional network. This is a mission-critical role for advancing long-term innovation in a collaborative, global context.

Identify emerging semiconductor technologies and trends with mid- to long-term scope
Initiate, structure, and support joint research programs and collaborations
Serve as technical interface between external partners and internal R&D, business units, IP, legal, and strategy teams
Provide clear technical insights and recommendations to management
Support the definition of research themes aligned with the long-term technology roadmap
Represent Renesas at international conferences, workshops, and technical forums
Build and maintain a trusted global technology network over time
Responsabilità   Solid technical background in semiconductor technologies (devices, process, circuits, materials, packaging, or systems)
Experience in R&D, technology planning, technology strategy, or technical partnership roles
Ability to communicate and collaborate with engineers and researchers at a technical level
Business-level English proficiency for meetings and written communication
Strong coordination skills across organizational and cultural boundaries
Willingness to work within a Japanese corporate culture valuing collaboration and long-term relationships
Experience in mid- to long-term technology development or advanced research programs
Hands-on experience with research institutes, universities, or public research organizations
Experience overseeing end-to-end development from design through manufacturing for digital or analog semiconductor products
Experience working in Europe and/or North America
Experience contributing to technology roadmaps or long-term R&D strategy
PhD or equivalent research experience in a relevant technical field
Familiarity with joint research frameworks, consortium-based research, or government-funded programs
