Accessibility Front-End Designer​/Developer; T & I; Telework​/Hybrid

Position Title:

Accessibility Front-End Designer/Developer (T&I) – Contract, Long Term (Fixed Term)

Location:

1000 Rue Papineau, Montreal, Quebec (Hybrid, with remote work)

We are looking for a skilled Accessibility Front-End Designer/Developer to ensure that our internal web properties follow accessibility best practices while collaborating with design, engineering, and solution architecture teams.

• Work closely with the Accessibility team to evaluate accessibility reports and fix high priority issues.
• Convert high-fidelity UI/UX design wireframes and mockups into pixel‑perfect, interactive code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Build and maintain complex web applications using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Collaborate with backend developers to integrate RESTful APIs and ensure seamless data flow between the server and the UI.
• Create interactive prototypes and mockups to test design concepts and simulate user workflows.
• Conduct or assist with user research, usability testing, and persona development to ensure products solve real user needs.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and ensure compliance with accessibility standards like WCAG 2.1 Level AA and CAN/ASC‑EN 301 549.
• Ensure that applications work consistently across web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) and devices.
• Act as the bridge between designers, backend engineers, and stakeholders to determine technical feasibility of designs.
• Build and maintain reusable code, UI components, and design systems for future scalability.
• Actively contribute to our communities of knowledge, practice, and expertise.

• Three or more years of experience in a UX Front-End Developer role.
• Degree (BA, BSc) or diploma in Software Development, Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 Level AA, CAN/ASC‑EN 301 549).
• Proficiency with design tools such as Figma or similar for UI/UX development.
• Strong experience with SPA development, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Type Script, and frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, and Bootstrap.
• Experience integrating backend APIs (REST, GraphQL) and using CI/CD pipelines, source code management, and release management.
• Excellent communication skills, facilitating technical discussions and building consensus.
• Ability to solve problems creatively and take ownership of work.
• Dynamic, collaborative, and comfortable working with remote team members.
• Bilingual (English & French) in both spoken and written communication.
