Principal Consultant - Software and Data - Western Cape

Overview

Cyber Pro Consulting is a leading provider of IT professional services in the South African market, with over 500 consultants and a 25-year track record of delivering Advisory, Managed Projects and Team Augmentation services. We are hiring a Principal Consultant technical lead for the Western Cape region. The role requires an energetic, client-facing senior professional with a combination of broad technical background, pre-sales and advisory experience, hands-on technical delivery and analysis skills, and project management capability.

• Sales and Pre-Sales
  • Contribute to customer sales meetings, supporting our account management team in a technical/advisory capacity
  • Compile high-quality RFP responses for turnkey, managed and consulting project RFPs
  • Deliver customer presentations and pitches
  • Own and maintain RFP and proposal templates
  • Regularly meet Cyber Pro onsite teams to understand the technical work being delivered and provide mentorship as needed
• Project Delivery and Team Management
  • Serve as a roving technical thought leader and advisor across Cyber Pro’s onsite technical teams
  • Provide leadership on managed projects including people management, tech lead, analyst and project management activities
  • Supervise Cyber Pro Consulting team members servicing the client on managed projects
  • Drive performance of managed Cyber Pro Consulting project teams
  • Governance of managed projects: regular check-ins, performance reviews, and agile delivery practices
  • Performance reviews of managed teams against agreed KPIs and assist with performance management
  • Ensure integration with client teams and client satisfaction
• Marketing
  • Collaborate with Marketing to document Cyber Pro projects and produce case studies and customer testimonials
  • Assist in generating Cyber Pro Consulting technical thought leadership content on social media
  • Represent Cyber Pro Consulting at conferences, trade shows, etc. as needed
• Tech Leadership
  • Research and POC work into new technologies (Software, Data, Digital, Cloud, AI)
  • Contribute to and drive innovation, automation, RPA and AI internally
  • Provide advisory/consulting services to customers as needed
  • Assist in vetting and recruiting suitable technical staff
  • Run and present internal skills and tech sessions
  • Collaborate with HR to document and drive the team’s skills and capabilities
• Vendor Partnerships
  • Grow Cyber Pro partner relationships (AWS, Microsoft, Salesforce, Snowflake)
  • Certify on pre-sales, sales and technical certifications as required for partnerships
  • Work with vendor partners on co-selling and co-branding opportunities
• Location and Working Hours
  • Full-time position during core working hours with flexible start time between 7:00 and 9:00
  • Working location:
    Johannesburg (Woodmead) or Cape Town (Century City) offices, with regular presence/travel to customers in the region and occasional medium-term deployments to customer premises
  • This is an office-based role and does not offer remote working except for 1 day per week (Wednesday); seeking career-focused individuals who value in-person collaboration

  • Hands-on experience:
    At least 5 years in software, data or digital technical work
  • Leadership:
    At least 5 years in a team lead or other senior role with some management responsibility
  • Client facing:
    At least 2 years of pre-sales and/or advisory experience
• Education and Certification
  • BSc IT, Math/Stats, Engineering or other STEM degree or similar qualification
  • IT industry certifications advantageous (Microsoft, AWS, Salesforce, Oracle, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Project Management, Business Process, Business Analysis and Technical Architecture qualifications advantageous (e.g., SAFe, Agile, Dev Ops Project lifecycle, BABOK, TOGAF)
• Skills
• Experience in client-facing sales, pre-sales, advisory and consulting activities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Hands-on software, data or digital solution design and architecture and development (e.g., .NET or Java)
• Awareness of Cloud trends (Cloud adoption, AI, ML, LLMs) and software architecture and data platforms
• Understanding of industry verticals such as banking, insurance, wealth/investments or retail
• Experience in creating technical proposals, business and functional requirements, and architecture documentation
• Strong understanding of Cloud technology (AWS and Microsoft Azure) with ability to provide high-level advisory on cloud adoption
