Storage Backup Analyst; North York

Job Description

We are looking for highly motivated junior Storage & Backup Administrators to join our team. This role offers an excellent chance to gain hands‑on experience managing enterprise‑level storage and backup systems, learn cutting‑edge technology and AWS cloud technology.

• Assist in managing and maintaining storage systems such as SAN, NAS, and cloud‑based storage and enterprise backup solutions.
• Perform routine storage provisioning, data migration, and capacity planning tasks.
• Provide operational support for day‑to‑day activities including alerting, monitoring, and trending; diagnose and troubleshoot backup and storage hardware and software issues to ensure data integrity and system efficiency.
• Develop scripts for automated management (Shell, Power Shell, Python, etc.) and work with senior admin on service delivery automation using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and CDD.
• Ensure backup and storage systems comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements; remediate security vulnerabilities.
• Provision AWS FSx/EFS file share, manage file system capacity, performance, and other cloud storage tasks.
• Participate in regular disaster recovery testing and perform data recovery/restore testing.
• Document backup and storage configurations, procedures, and best practices.
• Participate in on‑call rotation.

• Minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience in a related role.
• Recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of backup technologies (e.g., Dell Avamar/PPDM, Rubrik) and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, RAID, etc.) and data protection strategies.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with scripting (Shell script, Power Shell, Python, etc.) or automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in the areas of storage and backup technologies.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Self‑driven, resourceful individual with an ability to work under little supervision.

This role requires Reliability Status Clearance, which includes a law enforcement inquiry and a credit check. Applicants must also provide information regarding any residence or travel outside Canada for six consecutive months during the last five years.
