Product Designer, Temporary

Position Overview:Reporting to the Director of UX, the Product Designer is responsible for collaborating closely with your primary delivery team, building relationships with business leads and cross-functional stakeholders across the enterprise, and interfacing directly with our partners in financial institutions and our customers. This individual must gain a deep understanding of our users and customers and seek the data to truly understand how our customers will engage with our product.

This will join our exciting journey as we aim to shape the future of investing for Canadians by delivering best-in-class advisor and investor wealth platforms. As a Product Designer, you will identify and solve for user needs that align with business objectives and technical strategy to define the user experience that brings our initial vision to life as well as chart the course for our continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Holistically explore the entire customer journey by researching and validating requirements with users and stakeholders
• Define and design conceptually before thinking of UI, prototyping and testing solutions for iterative design
• Document reusable patterns leveraging our design system for rapid delivery with development team
• Act as design lead over the experience, interaction design, information design and user interface for product area in close collaboration with Product Manager and Technology Lead
• Identify, analyze, and perform user research and data analysis to clarify opportunities and uncover issues, and set and evaluate target metrics
• Develop conceptual diagrams, task flows, information architecture, wireframes and interaction design specs
• Create user interface screens, components and solutions for B2B2C web platforms, leveraging and contributing to design system
• Craft and maintain up-to-date interactive prototypes for executive-level presentation
• Develop components, mocks and prototypes and design, run and analyze usability tests
• Consolidate design decisions into effective communication presentations and design specifications
• Communicate opportunities and design vision with Product Managers and Technical Leads to define iteration plans
• Advocate for user-centered design within the organization and mentor other designers

Required Experience &

Skills:

• 5+ years of design experience as a key member of a product delivery team in a technology company
• Design Comprehension – Ability to articulate clear rationale for design decisions, exceptional knowledge of UX/UI principles, ability to effectively critique designs
• Communication – Strong stakeholder relationship management and excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to diverse audiences
• Prioritization – Skill in triaging design demands and identifying when to jump to design versus when more research is required
• Ownership – Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Accessibility – Awareness of accessibility, WCAG, AODA, AMA, and contemporary inclusive design standards
• Demonstrated Skill – Online portfolio of previous and current professional work demonstrating various successful projects and personal impact. Strong expertise in information design and interaction design
• Tool Proficiency – Exceptional skills with Figma and Miro or similar tools
• Research and Evaluation – Investigation and workshopping skills to work with users to identify problems and solutions. Experience creating and evaluating usability tests
• Fluent communication in English required; bilingual in French is an asset
• Familiarity with investment or financial services industries is an asset
• Undergraduate degree in UX, Human Computer Interaction or Graphic/Digital Design is an asset

Work Arrangement:Hybrid role based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Remote work available; office location at 151 Yonge St, Toronto, ON for those who prefer in-office work.

Contract Duration:6 months

Compensation:$90 - $100 CAD per hour (individual compensation packages based on various factors unique to each candidate)
