Job Introduction:
We are recruiting an Identity and Access Administrator to join our ICT team at Milton Keynes City Council. The role focuses on protecting our systems, data and colleagues by ensuring secure and reliable access across the organisation.

This role may be suitable for home working following an assessment. Home‑based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full identity lifecycle using Microsoft Entra , including user access, group membership and permissions.
  • Design, maintain and review conditional access and security policies to protect council systems.
  • Administer Microsoft Intune to support secure and compliant devices across the organisation.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts, working with colleagues to investigate and resolve incidents.
  • Configure data protection controls to ensure sensitive information is shared safely and appropriately.
  • Produce clear reports and recommendations to help improve the council’s security posture.
Qualifications
  • Experience in identity and access management with a strong understanding of user access security.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft security tools to support and protect systems effectively.
  • Experience monitoring and responding to security risks, acting quickly and confidently.
  • Strong understanding of data protection and compliance to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Clear communication skills to explain technical issues to non‑technical colleagues.
  • Proven problem‑solving skills to investigate issues and identify practical solutions.
  • Alignment with values of dedication, respect and collaboration.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and adaptation to evolving technologies and threats.
