VMware Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMware Specialist to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our virtualized environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring high availability, performance, and security across our enterprise-grade VMware infrastructure. We are specifically looking for candidates with a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience and a strong preference for South African‑based professionals.

• Design, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi environments.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex virtualization issues to ensure maximum uptime.
• Perform routine upgrades, patches, and lifecycle management of the virtualization stack.
• Implement and maintain disaster recovery (DR) solutions and business continuity plans.
• Collaborate with storage, network, and security teams to optimize infrastructure performance.
• Automate routine operational tasks using PowerCLI or other scripting languages.
• Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations and standard operating procedures.

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience managing VMware environments in an enterprise setting.
• Expertise in vSphere, vSAN, and NSX configuration and administration.
• Strong understanding of server hardware, storage area networks (SAN), and network protocols.
• Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve critical infrastructure incidents.
• Relevant VMware certifications (e.g., VCP-DCV) are highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Must be based in South Africa.

• Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution (AVS), or Google Cloud VMware Engine.
• Proficiency in automation and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, or Power Shell/PowerCLI).
• Experience in hybrid-cloud environment management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
