Role Overview
The Senior Network Security Engineer leads complex troubleshooting, drives operational excellence, and improves systems and processes. This role acts as a technical leader within the team, mentoring engineers and contributing to architectural and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Lead resolution of major incidents
- Handle high-complexity and high-impact issues
- Ensure stability and performance across environments
Advanced Troubleshooting & Design
- Diagnose complex, multi-layer issues across systems
- Design and validate solutions for network and security challenges
- Provide technical direction during incidents and changes
Process & Improvement
- Identify and implement operational efficiencies
- Improve monitoring, automation, and runbooks
- Reduce recurring issues through proactive measures
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers
- Drive knowledge sharing and technical standards
- Elevate overall team capability
Security & Risk Management
- Identify risks and vulnerabilities proactively
- Ensure a strong security posture across environments
- Guide best practices and standards
Required Qualifications :
Hard Skills:
- Expert-level understanding of TCP/IP and network architecture
- Advanced experience with routing, switching, and security design
- Deep expertise in multiple vendors (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking, SD-WAN, SASE, and zero trust
- Experience with system integrations (automation)
- Must hold a valid Fortinet NSE 7 certification.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to operate under pressure during critical incidents
- Strong communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proactive mindset with focus on continuous improvement
Previous Experience:
- 5+ years of network/security engineering experience
- Proven experience handling complex environments and incidents
