YOUR

ROLE

The Lab Operations (Lab Ops) team provides internal support for Wind River’s engineering, development, sales, and support teams. We manage reliable labs, cloud environments, networks, systems, and embedded devices that enable our engineers to develop and test software globally, ensuring 24/7 accessibility.

Lab Ops supports a wide range of systems—from embedded boards to large cloud platforms—and is responsible for maintaining lab infrastructure to ensure reliable operation for engineers and automated test systems.

This Ottawa‑based position focuses primarily on building, supporting, and managing cloud lab environments, with additional responsibilities involving Linux, VxWorks, Helix Hypervisor, servers, and embedded systems.

Typical tasks include setup and configuration (racking, cabling, RAC/ BMC/ iLO/ firmware/ BIOS updates), inventory management through Net Box, and other tools; plus, network diagramming of systems and all connections.

The role also involves managing remote access for engineering teams, configureing and installing embedded system boards and configuring network boot environments (e.g., DHCP, tftpd‑hpa, PXE, gPXE, UEFI, U‑Boot, and VxWorks boot loaders). You would additionally provide remote support to the labs in India, California and

other engineering sites.

Success in this position requires strong debugging skills, creativity, collaboration, and a continual drive to learn and improve. The work is physically active—you should be comfortable unboxing, lifting, and installing servers and lab infrastructure as required.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

In your daily work, you will:

  • Build and maintain cloud lab environments per engineering requirements.
  • Design, build, and document network configurations (L2/L3, IPv4/IPv6) for cloud and embedded labs using Ethernet, DAC, and fiber connections.
  • Configure and debug GPS and PTP systems.
  • Set up and maintain servers through iDRAC, BMC, iLO, and related interfaces; manage firmware, BIOS, remote consoles, and SOL connections.
