Job Description The Avigilon Alta Video team is responsible for the mission-critical infrastructure that powers our VMS. We are currently evolving our platform to support deep-tier interconnection across the Motorola product portfolio. Our team values high-performance engineering, architectural integrity, and a commitment to building the most reliable real-time tools in the industry.

We have a fantastic city center office in the heart of Edinburgh and fully embrace a hybrid home/office working model, with an aim for 2 days in the office.

We are looking for a skilled Test Automation Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh. The ideal candidate combines strong automation expertise with excellent API & browser automation skills, a solid foundation in coding, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

While experience with our specific tech stack is not required, having proficiency in Typescript /Playwright is a significant bonus. Above all, we value enthusiasm,adaptability, and a willingness to learn.

Some responsibilities include:

Mission-Critical Quality Assurance:
Directly contribute to public safety and enterprise security by executing and assuring the quality of cutting-edge solutions. Support Quality Benchmarks:
Work with senior engineers to support continuous quality benchmarks for real-time systems and new AI features. Develop and Maintain Test Suites:
Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests within existing frameworks (e.g., Type Script/Playwright) across UI, API, and backend systems. Specialized Mobile Automation:
Responsible for developing and executing automated test scripts for iOS and Android applications to ensure seamless mobile user experiences. Integrates mobile tests with emulators, simulators, and real-device clouds into the team’s delivery pipeline.

Basic Requirements You’re not expected to have all the following skills, but they will be useful in performing your job. We are looking for someone who can:

Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts within established frameworks.

Actively contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines to ensure frequent, high-quality releases.

Demonstrated proficiency in a modern programming language and the ability to apply core engineering principles.

Proven expertise in iOS/android mobile testing, proficiency with cross-platform mobile tools (e.g., Appium) or native frameworks (XCUITest, Espresso), using languages like Python, JavaScript or Type Script.

Experience with testing and automating workflows across different layers of a system, including user interfaces (UI) and APIs.Solid troubleshooting and debugging skills to identify and resolve test failures and system issues.

Familiarity with CI/CD principles and practical experience contributing to or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

It is also considered a bonus if you are:
