Job IntroductionAs our Information Security Lead, you’ll help keep Yorkshire Housing’s information safe and make security simple for colleagues. You’ll turn risks into practical actions, build confidence across the business and help secure working become part of how we do things everyday.
We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go so if you want to work for a company who are truly flexible and where you are valued, then this could be the role for you.
What we're all about
You might think of Yorkshire Housing as 'just' a housing provider. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and our mission is to make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they're proud to call home. We're all about the customer, and our service doesn't stop once the keys are in the door.
As we continue to invest in our technology, services and ways of working, protecting our information and managing risk effectively has never been more important. That's where this role comes in.
We're looking for an Information Security Lead to help us strengthen our approach to risk, assurance and compliance. Working across the business, you'll provide trusted advice, influence decision-making and help ensure information security considerations are understood and embedded into everyday ways of working.
Want to know more about your next challenge?
This role is all about helping Yorkshire Housing understand, manage and reduce information-related risks whilst ensuring colleagues have the knowledge confidence and support they need to make informed decisions. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you'll act as a trusted advisor, helping colleagues understand how information security supports our wider business objectives and enabling them to make balanced, informed decisions.
A big part of the role is helping colleagues understand security risk and assurance requirements in a way that feels practical, relevant and easy to act on. You'll collaborate with colleagues across Technology, Insight and Change and the wider business, ensuring information security considerations are embedded into projects, supplier relationships and day-to-day operations.
You’ll also:
- Lead and support security risk, assurance and compliance activities, identifying areas of concern and providing meaningful reporting, recommendations and insights to support business decisions.
- Act as a trusted point of contact, helping colleagues across the business understand information-related risks and make confident, informed decisions.
- Turn complex information into clear, practical guidance and work collaboratively with business and technology teams to embed good information security practices into everyday ways of working.
This is an agile homeworking role. There’ll be days when you’ll join us in our Leeds workspace for team catch-ups, collaboration and face-to-face time with colleagues and other times you might choose to work from home. Some weeks you may be in more than others depending on what’s needed, so being able to travel to Leeds easily is important - but you’ll always have plenty of notice so you can plan ahead.

Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who’s naturally curious, enjoys working with people and isn’t afraid to ask questions or challenge constructively. You don't need to be the most technical person in the room, but you do need to be able to understand complex information and make it meaningful for others. Whether your background is in information security, risk, compliance, governance or assurance, you’ll bring a commercial mindset, strong communication skills and the confidence to work independently.
