Network Engineer, Systems Engineer
We’re recruiting for an Infrastructure Support Engineer to join a growing IT services business, supporting customers across a broad range of infrastructure, networking and security technologies.
This is a good opportunity for an experienced 2nd/3rd Line Engineer who wants more than a traditional support role. Alongside resolving escalated technical issues, you’ll get involved in infrastructure projects, customer site visits, technical assessments and helping clients improve their wider IT environments.
You’ll primarily work from home, with one day per week in the Gloucester office and travel to customer sites when required for projects and technical work.
What you’ll be doing- Providing 2nd/3rd line infrastructure support across a varied customer base
- Troubleshooting networking, firewall, server and Microsoft 365 issues
- Supporting and configuring Fortinet firewall environments
- Working across Microsoft 365, Intune and Entra
- Troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, routing, subnetting and wider network issues
- Delivering onsite and remote infrastructure projects
- Acting as an escalation point for more complex technical issues
- Completing technical assessments of customer infrastructure
- Supporting server, storage, backup and security technologies
- Working directly with customers to recommend improvements and help shape technical roadmaps
You’ll ideally have experience working within an MSP or similarly customer-focused IT environment at 2nd/3rd line level.
Strong experience across several of the following would be particularly relevant:
- Networking – DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, subnetting and routing
- Microsoft 365
- Windows Server
- VMware / Hyper-V
- Backup technologies such as Veeam or Acronis
- Endpoint and security technologies such as Sentinel One, Sophos or Forti Client
Experience supporting schools or education customers would be useful, but isn’t essential.
You’ll need to be comfortable dealing directly with customers and travelling to client sites when projects require it. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.
PackageSalary: Up to £45,000
Location: Hybrid – 1 day per week in Gloucester, otherwise home-based
Travel: Customer site visits for projects and technical work
