Disaster Recovery Manager (Contract)

Job Description  This contract role offers an opportunity for an experienced Disaster Recovery Manager to take full ownership of IT resilience and disaster recovery across a complex, regulated organisation. You will shape and implement the disaster recovery strategy, embed robust practices across all technology services, and ensure that the organisation can respond effectively to disruption across both cloud and on-premise environments.

Operating at enterprise level, you will lead testing, drive regulatory compliance, and work closely with senior stakeholders to support wider operational resilience initiatives.  Responsibilities   Own and drive the organisations Disaster Recovery strategy, framework and governance across all technology services.
Lead the planning, execution and management of Disaster Recovery exercises, including large-scale simulations and live recovery events.
Ensure end-to-end Disaster Recovery capabilities are designed, implemented and embedded consistently across the organisation.
Manage Disaster Recovery risks, controls and audits, ensuring alignment with regulatory and internal compliance requirements.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to support and enhance wider Operational Resilience initiatives.
Oversee relationships with third-party recovery and technology suppliers, ensuring they meet agreed recovery objectives and standards.
Ensure consistent Disaster Recovery documentation, standards and processes are maintained and applied across the group.
Mentor and develop technology teams in Disaster Recovery planning, testing and continuous improvement.
Ensure Disaster Recovery capabilities fully support both cloud-based and on-premise infrastructure environments.
Support crisis and recovery event management activities, providing leadership and guidance during incidents.
Contribute to Business Continuity and IT resilience planning, ensuring alignment between Disaster Recovery and broader continuity strategies.
Essential Skills   Proven experience operating at Disaster Recovery Manager level with accountability for enterprise-wide Disaster Recovery and IT resilience.
Extensive experience designing, implementing and leading Disaster Recovery frameworks, strategies and test programmes.
Strong knowledge of Operational Resilience and regulatory requirements within a regulated environment.
experience working across both cloud and on-premise infrastructure environments.
Background in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery best practices, ideally aligned to ISO standards.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with a track record of engaging and influencing senior leadership.
experience managing and coordinating large-scale Disaster Recovery exercises and recovery events.
Demonstrable expertise in Disaster Recovery strategy and governance, IT resilience and operational resilience.
experience in risk and controls management, including regulatory compliance in relation to Disaster Recovery.
experience in supplier management and coordination of multi-supplier recovery arrangements.
Proven capability in crisis and recovery event management, including decision-making under pressure.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications   experience in the financial services sector or other highly regulated industries.
Professional Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery qualification.
experience working within complex, multi-supplier technology environments.
experience building and maintaining relationships with regulators and audit functions.
Exposure to Business Continuity Management and alignment with recognised ISO frameworks.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex Disaster Recovery concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
