About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Remote Energy Data Scientist to join their innovative team, working from any location within South Africa . This role is integral to unlocking the value hidden within vast datasets related to energy consumption, production, and market dynamics. You will develop advanced analytical models and machine learning algorithms to drive strategic decisions, optimize operations, and identify new opportunities within the energy sector .

- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for energy forecasting, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance.
- Analyze large, complex datasets from smart meters, grid sensors, and market platforms to extract actionable insights.
- Develop data visualization dashboards and reports to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers and business analysts to define data requirements and identify key performance indicators.
- Implement and optimize data pipelines and workflows for processing and analyzing energy data.
- Stay current with advancements in data science, machine learning, and their applications in the energy industry .
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on analytical modeling and machine learning.
- Proven experience working with large datasets and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and libraries like Tensor Flow, PyTorch, scikit-learn.
- Experience in the energy sector or with energy-related data is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication skills , and ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative environment .
