About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and strategic Director of Sports Analytics to lead their data insights team in Port Elizabeth . This leadership position is responsible for harnessing the power of data to drive performance improvements, strategic decision-making, and competitive advantages across various sports initiatives. You will manage a team of data scientists and analysts, overseeing the collection, interpretation, and application of complex datasets.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong quantitative background, deep knowledge of sports, and the ability to translate intricate data into actionable insights for stakeholders, utilizing both on-site collaboration and remote work capabilities.
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive sports analytics strategy.
- Manage a team of data scientists and analysts, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Oversee the collection, cleaning, and analysis of large datasets related to player performance, fan engagement, and operational efficiency.
- Develop predictive models and data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions.
- Present complex findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in analytics, machine learning, and sports technology.
- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data analytics, with a substantial focus on sports analytics or performance analysis.
- Proven experience in leading and managing analytical teams.
- Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and data visualization tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working within a hybrid operational model.
