About the Role
Our client is looking for a diligent and technically adept Telecom Network Operations Specialist to join their team, supporting operations remotely with a focus on the Port Elizabeth region. This role is essential for the day-to-day monitoring, management, and troubleshooting of the company's telecommunications network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring network availability, performance, and security, responding to alerts, and resolving incidents in a timely manner.
This position offers the chance to work with advanced network technologies in a fully remote setting, contributing to the reliability of critical communication services.
- Monitor telecom network performance and availability using established tools and systems.
- Respond to network alerts, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions to restore services promptly.
- Perform routine network health checks, preventative maintenance, and system updates.
- Document network incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions accurately in the ticketing system.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and other teams to resolve complex network problems.
- Assist in the implementation and configuration of network devices and services under supervision.
- National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in network operations or technical support, preferably in telecoms.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Solar Winds, Nagios) and ticketing systems.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
