The Opportunity:Build, Lead, and Grow
EPS is 25 years into a journey of delivering joined-up solutions for the built environment. We aren't looking for a ‘caretaker’ - we are looking for a Geospatial Operations Lead with solid Aerial Topo Surveying experience and the ambition to take ownership of our survey division.
We are seeking a high-calibre professional ready to transition from a technical practitioner role into a strategic leadership position. You will act as the Technical Architect of our department, delivering high-value in-house aerial Photogrammetry, LiDAR and traditional surveys while acting as the ‘Intelligent Client’ for our broader project portfolio.
The Role:Hybrid Leadership
You will be the engine of our department, balancing field craft with strategic management.
- The Hybrid Split: You will spend roughly 30-40% of your time on the front line (conducting aerial surveys and complex site visits) and 60-70% of your time as a ‘Technical Architect’ (managing our curated external survey network, auditing data, and driving growth).
- Systems-Led Excellence: We are finalising a comprehensive suite of well-thought-out templates, workflows, and CAD/N4CE standards. Your job is to deploy, implement, and refine these systems so our deliverables remain the gold standard.
- The Intelligent Client: You will manage our external strategic partners. Whether the job is routine topo, TLS, SLAM, or measured building, you are the technical gatekeeper. You ensure every external deliverable meets the EPS Standard before it reaches our engineers.
- Entrepreneurial Growth: We want you to grow the team. You’ll have a seat at the table to identify new opportunities, build out our service offering, and mentor junior staff as we scale.
- Varied Landscape: This is an exciting and varied job which includes cut and fill work and requires the connectiveness of each survey with each requirement on a wide range of different projects – varying from retail parks and multi hectare sites to watercourses and fish passes, to name a few.
We know that a Lead Surveyor is only as good as their support infrastructure. You will be backed by:
- Project Administration: Dedicated support for scheduling and logistics.
- Technical Support: Access to expert CAD drawing production and 3D earthworks modelling capability.
- Ready-to-Go Systems: Pre-defined templates for proposals, reporting, and data delivery.
- Technical Breadth: We are looking for approximately 5 years of relevant experience. You possess a solid, broad-spectrum appreciation of survey approaches. You are equally comfortable with traditional topographic surveying as you are with aerial workflows. You understand the technical requirements of TLS, SLAM, and measured building surveys well enough to manage others who perform them.
- Systems Mindset: You value efficiency. You are comfortable utilising and refining established workflows to ensure project deliverables are accurate and consistent.
- The ‘Step-Up’ Mindset: You have the confidence to manage a project lifecycle from the first proposal through to final data delivery, managing external teams with the same rigour you would apply to your own work.
- Software Fluency: Deep familiarity with industry-standard processing (specifically CAD, Pix4D, Agisoft, DJI Terra and N4CE).
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: You see the ‘big picture’. You look for ways to improve our workflows, expand our service footprint, and scale the team.
- Defined Path to Leadership: We are looking for the future of our business. This role is a strategic ‘step-up’ with a clear roadmap toward formal Directorship.
- Direct Mentorship: Work directly with executive leadership.
- Career-Defining Impact: You are joining us to build, not maintain. You will have a seat at the table in our growth strategy.
- Flexibility: We believe in outcome-based success. We support a flexible, hybrid approach with home-working options.
- Performance & Growth
Incentives:
We reward success. You will participate in a performance-based incentive structure linked to department growth, new business development, and operational efficiency. Your earnings will directly reflect the impact you have on the business. - Benefits: Pension contributions and 25 days holiday.
- Development Budget: We are committed to your professional development and Chartership goals.
