Job Description & How to Apply Below
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in video and broadcast engineering who wants to develop their technical knowledge while gaining hands-on experience with professional quality-control, transcoding and media-management tools. You will work closely with customers, technical partners and internal engineering teams to resolve issues, configure media workflows and identify opportunities to improve automation. You will also explore how AI and emerging technologies could increase the team's efficiency and delivery capability.
Key responsibilities Provide technical support to customers and partners, resolving streaming, encoding, transcoding and video-quality issues. Manage customer support tickets and technical queries to a high standard and within agreed timescales. Assist with the day-to-day support of Telestream Vidchecker and Vantage products, escalating complex issues when required. Help create, maintain and update video quality-control profiles using tools such as Vidchecker.
Create and maintain transcoding profiles using industry-standard platforms such as Vantage. Configure custom media workflows and conduct integration testing to support customer and technical-partner requirements. Work with the engineering team to integrate and optimise the use of digital-media technologies. Identify opportunities to increase automation across the media-management platform. Investigate potential uses of AI to improve workflows, troubleshooting and technical delivery.
Build and maintain a comprehensive library of video test assets to support the development, testing and validation of new features. Create clear technical documentation, training materials and explainer videos for customers and colleagues. Share knowledge and provide training or guidance to other team members. Continue developing your technical knowledge by working alongside experienced colleagues and taking on increasingly complex challenges.
Participate in an on-call rota providing occasional out-of-hours technical support. Undertake other reasonable duties that support the objectives of the wider team. About you You may already be working in an entry-level video, broadcast or media-engineering role, or you may have developed relevant knowledge through education, personal projects or an internship. You should have:
Some practical exposure to video, broadcast or digital-media workflows. A working understanding of video requirements for television and digital platforms. Knowledge of codecs, containers, wrappers, frame rates, aspect ratios and subtitles or closed captions. A basic understanding of UK broadcast delivery standards, including DPP and broadcaster specifications. An understanding of common subtitle formats. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
A customer-focused approach and excellent attention to detail. A willingness to learn, ask questions and respond positively to feedback. The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across a small, fully remote team. An appropriate home-working environment suitable for technical work and customer interaction. The flexibility to participate in an occasional out-of-hours support rota. Technical knowledge A baseline understanding of the following would be beneficial:
Video formats, containers and codecs such as Pro Res, XDCAM, AVC-Intra, MXF and MOV. Transcoding tools such as Telestream Vantage, FFmpeg or cloud-based encoding services. Video quality-control platforms such as Vidchecker, Baton, Interra or similar. Windows administration. Version-control systems, particularly Git. Basic scripting using Power Shell, Batch or Python. A relevant qualification or coursework in video engineering, broadcast engineering, media technology or a related subject would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
The package Salary of £35,000 per annum. Fully home-based working. Hands-on…
