Key Responsibilities

Backup Platform Administration
Configure and operate AvePoint for Microsoft 365 protection across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, One Drive and Teams, including retention policies, job scheduling and restore requests.
Administer Azure Backup and Recovery Services vaults covering Azure virtual machines, Azure Files, SQL in Azure VMs and on-premises workloads through the MARS and MABS agents.
Operate Meeza Backup for the client environments it protects, maintaining job schedules, retention settings and capacity within agreed limits.
Onboard new workloads and clients into the appropriate protection platform, and decommission protection cleanly when services are retired.
Manage backup agents, credentials, connectivity and vault configuration, and keep protection policies aligned to each client's agreed service levels.

Restore and Recoverability
Perform restore operations on request and during incidents, from single-item and file-level recovery through to full server and virtual machine recovery.
Run scheduled restore verification tests and disaster recovery drills, documenting the results as evidence that recovery point and recovery time objectives are achievable.
Act as the recovery lead during data loss and ransomware events, working to a defined recovery sequence and keeping stakeholders informed throughout.
Maintain and rehearse documented restore procedures for each protected workload type, so that recovery is repeatable and not dependent on one individual.

Monitoring, Capacity and Compliance
Monitor daily backup jobs across all platforms, investigate failures and warnings, and resolve them before the next scheduled run wherever possible.
Manage retention, immutability and storage consumption so that protection meets compliance requirements without uncontrolled cost growth.
Forecast storage and capacity growth, and raise it with service delivery ahead of time rather than when a job starts failing.
Support audit and compliance requests with evidence of protection coverage, retention settings and successful restore testing.
Identify unprotected workloads and coverage gaps across client estates, and drive them to resolution.

Service Delivery, Automation and Documentation
Raise, own and close change records for backup configuration changes, with tested implementation and rollback plans.
Handle incidents, service requests and problem records within agreed SLA targets, keeping ticket records accurate and current.
Produce monthly backup success and restore testing reporting for service delivery managers and client stakeholders, with clear commentary on exceptions.
Automate reporting, remediation and routine health checks using Power Shell, and contribute reusable scripts to the team's automation library.
Maintain runbooks and as-built documentation, mentor junior engineers on backup practice, and improve the quality of shift handovers.
Conduct root cause analysis on recurring backup failures and drive permanent fixes through the problem management process.
Participate in the on-call rotation and provide out-of-hours support for recovery incidents.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Four to seven years in infrastructure support, with at least three years focused on enterprise backup and recovery operations.
