Backup Engineer
Location:
Work from home / Telford
Duration: 6 months initially
This senior-level role sits within a Backup team responsible for the provision of Managed Service & Project activities.
The team provides support to the Backup solutions on the Live, Development & Test environments as well as performing all Change & Project work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Backup technologies including Veritas Net Backup. In addition there will be a considerable amount of migration / transformation Project work, some of which may be out of hours.
- At least 5-10 years' experience of supporting (2nd to 3rd Line) backups of servers and virtual payloads.
- Good knowledge of backup and restore technologies.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication.
- Have a proven problem solving ability.
- Proactive approach to personal workload management.
- Awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework and specifically incident and change management.
- Use and support of Veritas Net Backup software and storage appliances.
- Use and support of backups in a VMWare environment.
- General knowledge of supporting backups on various server operating systems - Windows, Linux (RHEL & SLES), AIX and Solaris
