Data Scientist - R&D Analytics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Data Scientist to join their Research & Development division, based remotely in Pretoria . This role is central to driving innovation by extracting actionable insights from complex datasets. You will be responsible for developing predictive models, performing statistical analyses, and creating visualizations that guide strategic R&D decisions. • Develop, validate, and deploy machine learning models for predictive analytics and pattern recognition in R&D data.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, correlations, and insights relevant to research objectives.
• Design and implement A/B tests and other experimental designs to evaluate hypotheses.
• Create compelling data visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to understand their data needs and translate business problems into analytical solutions.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling techniques.

• Master's or PhD degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a quantitative field.
• Proven track record (5+ years) of applying data science and machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and libraries like scikit-learn, Tensor Flow, or PyTorch.
• Expertise in SQL and experience working with large, complex datasets.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills, especially in a remote setting .
