About the Role
Our client is looking for a talented and analytical Sports Analytics Lead to join their team in Port Elizabeth and drive data-informed decision-making across their sports initiatives. You will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced analytical models to gain insights into player performance, team strategies, fan engagement, and operational efficiency. This role requires a strong statistical background, proficiency in data visualization tools, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations for coaches, management, and marketing teams.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain statistical models to analyze player performance, identify trends, and predict outcomes.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to provide data-driven insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Analyze fan engagement data to optimize marketing campaigns and enhance the fan experience.
- Develop dashboards and reports to communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay current with advancements in sports analytics, machine learning, and data science techniques.
- Manage and mentor junior analysts, fostering a data-centric culture within the organization.
- Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics, with a significant focus on sports analytics.
- Strong proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R or Python.
- Experience with database management (SQL) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced sports environment.
