About the Role
Our client is seeking a visionary Insurance Data Scientist to drive data-driven insights and innovation across their operations, with a focus on enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency for clients across South Africa , including the Stellenbosch region. You will be responsible for developing predictive models, analyzing vast datasets, and extracting actionable intelligence to optimize underwriting, pricing, claims management, and fraud detection.
This is a fully remote role, offering the ultimate flexibility to work from any location and collaborate with a diverse, international team of experts dedicated to transforming the insurance landscape through advanced analytics.
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for predictive analytics, risk assessment, and fraud detection.
- Analyze large and complex datasets using advanced statistical techniques and programming languages (Python, R).
- Extract, clean, and transform data from various sources to prepare it for modeling and analysis.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations to communicate data insights and model performance to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with product, underwriting, and claims teams to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements.
- Stay at the forefront of data science methodologies and tools, applying them to solve insurance-specific challenges.
- Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist , with a strong portfolio of successful modeling projects.
- Expertise in machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and data mining techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, and experience with SQL and big data technologies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into business solutions.
