Remote Information Security Engineer

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Remote Information Security Engineer to join their team, supporting operations remotely from the Soweto region. This role is fundamental to the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced security systems and infrastructure, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and systems. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with global teams to address complex cybersecurity challenges.

• Design, deploy, and manage security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and web application firewalls (WAF).
• Develop and implement automation for security processes, monitoring, and incident response using scripting languages.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability testing, and penetration testing on systems and applications.
• Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions and enforce access control policies.
• Respond to and manage security incidents, coordinating containment and remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with IT operations and development teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of infrastructure and applications.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in information security engineering or a similar role.
• Strong expertise in network security , system hardening, and secure coding practices.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Power Shell, or Bash for automation.
• Experience with cloud security environments (AWS, Azure) and related security services.
• Solid understanding of cryptographic principles and their application.
• Relevant certifications like CISSP, Security+, or GIAC are highly desirable.
