Solutions Engineer – Design Europe

MLR Associates Ltd is actively seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer
- Design to join our client team on a remote contract basis, with the mandatory requirement that the consultant must be based in Europe. In this vital telecommunications role, you will perform network planning and deployment focusing on design, integration, validation, and acceptance, working in close cooperation with Managed Services, NPI, Care, and R&D teams. You will architect core network elements, manage subscriber data management (SDM) migrations, and drive cloud-native virtualized network function (VNF) deployments.

This opportunity requires a seasoned telecom design consultant with deep expertise in 3G, 4G, and 5G subscriber data architectures.

As a Solutions Engineer
- Design, you will take full ownership of designing, planning, and implementing core network elements including HLR, HSS, AUSF-UDM, SDL, One-NDS, MNP, and EIR. Your day-to-day responsibilities include performing project deployments, managing integrations, executing rigorous testing, and troubleshooting complex call flow issues during the deployment phase. You will be responsible for technical writing of crucial project documentation such as Low-Level Designs (LLD), Configuration Integration Questionnaires (CIQ), Design Network Diagrams (DND), Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), and Method of Procedures (MOP).

Furthermore, you will manage test and acceptance activities, leverage Unix/Linux and scripting automation (Shell, Perl, Python, Ansible), and deliver robust solutions directly to customers.

• Design, plan, and implement complex core network elements including HLR, HSS, AUSF-UDM, SDL, One-NDS, MNP, and EIR.
• Execute project deployments, system integrations, validation testing, and acceptance procedures.
• Troubleshoot call flow issues, protocol anomalies, and deployment phase bottlenecks swiftly.
• Author comprehensive technical documentation including LLD, CIQ, DND, ATP, and MOP.
• Manage Test & Acceptance activities in close cooperation with Managed Services, NPI, Care, and R&D teams.
• Integrate SDM solutions and execute subscriber database migrations for HLR, HSS, SDL, EIR, and MNP platforms.
• Perform cloud, virtualization, and Virtual Network Function (VNF) deployments utilizing Kubernetes and Docker containers.
• Apply basic scripting expertise in Shell, Perl, Python, and Ansible to automate network deployment and testing workflows.

• Minimum of 7+ years of professional engineering experience in mobile telecommunications core networks and network design.
• Mandatory requirement:
  Must be based in Europe for remote working delivery.
• Strong, demonstrable understanding of mobile networks across 3G, 4G, and 5G architectures and advanced operating systems.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing core elements such as HLR, HSS, AUSF-UDM, SDL, One-NDS, MNP, and EIR.
• Proven track record integrating SDM solutions and executing complex subscriber database migrations.
• Practical expertise in cloud computing, virtualization, and VNF deployments using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Proficient in Unix/Linux command-line administration and router/switch configurations.
• Basic scripting expertise in Shell scripting, PERL, Python, and Ansible.

• Vendor certifications from major telecom equipment providers (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia, HP).
• Prior consulting experience working with tier-one mobile network operators across European markets.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud-native network functions (CNFs) and 5G Core service-based architecture (SBA).
• Strong technical writing portfolio demonstrating mastery over LLD, ATP, and MOP documentation.
• Excellent customer-facing communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
