IT Business Analyst, Business Systems & Technology Analysis
Crimson Heights Behavioral Health | Contract
- Salary $30 - $45 USD per hour (about $4,800 - $7,200 per month at full time)
- Remote Job
Compassly is a clinical operations platform for behavioral health and IDD providers. Care teams use it for medication administration (eMAR), policies and compliance, scheduling, client records and documents, a family portal, and accounts receivable across web and mobile products.
We need a senior analyst who can walk into an ambiguous operational problem, find the real need, model the system clearly, and give product, design, engineering, and QA one shared understanding of what to build. This is not a note-taking role. You will own the quality of the problem definition and the path from stakeholder intent to a verified production outcome.
Location: Remote — Eastern Europe.
Rate: $30 - $45 USD per hour (about $4,800 - $7,200 per month at full time).
Engagement: Independent contractor, full-time preferred.
Overlap: At least 3 hours daily with 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM US Mountain Time.
Reports to: the founder, directly.
- Complex ideas become simple, testable specifications that engineers and stakeholders interpret the same way.
- Requirements stay current as decisions change; the implementation and documentation do not drift apart.
- Risks, edge cases, dependencies, permissions, and non-functional requirements surface before development, not during QA.
- Developers and testers can challenge your proposal, and you can improve it without losing the business goal.
- Every release has traceability from business outcome to workflow, API/data behavior, acceptance criteria, and validation evidence.
- Lead stakeholder interviews and workshops; distinguish requested features from the underlying operational need.
- Map current and future workflows using BPMN, UML, sequence diagrams, state models, and data-flow diagrams where each adds clarity.
- Translate discovery into functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, business rules, and exception paths.
- Define and review REST API behavior, OpenAPI contracts, integrations, data mappings, relational models, events, permissions, audit trails, and failure handling with engineers.
- Partner daily with product, design, backend, frontend, mobile, QA, and Dev Ops from discovery through release validation.
- Maintain Jira and Confluence as usable decision records, not document archives.
- Analyze production feedback and operational data, then recommend practical improvements.
- Run refinement, impact analysis, demos, and acceptance reviews; close ambiguity before it becomes rework.
- 6+ years in business analysis, systems analysis, or a combined Business/System Analyst role for custom software or SaaS products.
- Evidence of shipping complex web or mobile software through the full SDLC.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication in English, including the ability to simplify a technical idea without making it inaccurate.
- Strong BPMN and UML fundamentals plus practical use of sequence, integration, state, ER, or data-flow diagrams.
- Hands-on understanding of REST APIs, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, SQL, relational data models, microservices, and system integrations.
- Experience writing precise functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, data mappings, and business rules.
- Confidence working directly with developers and QA, accepting criticism, resolving disagreement, and making sensible compromises.
- Strong documentation discipline: decisions and specifications remain accurate as the product evolves.
- Professional experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile product development.
- Healthcare, EHR, clinical operations,…
