Head of Sports Analytics

Our client is seeking an innovative and analytical leader to fill the position of Head of Sports Analytics , working remotely with a strategic focus on engaging clients in the Sandton business hub. This role is pivotal in leveraging data to drive performance improvements, strategic decision-making, and competitive advantages for sports organizations and athletes. You will lead a team of data scientists and analysts, developing cutting-edge analytical models and providing actionable insights that shape training regimens, player recruitment, game strategy, and fan engagement initiatives, ensuring our client remains at the forefront of data-driven sports performance.

• Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytical frameworks and models for sports performance and strategy.
• Manage and mentor a team of data scientists, analysts, and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation and rigor.
• Collaborate with sports teams, leagues, and athletes to understand their data needs and deliver tailored insights.
• Oversee the collection, cleaning, and interpretation of large datasets related to player performance, game statistics, and fan behavior.
• Develop clear and compelling reports and visualizations to communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and sports analytics technologies.

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Sports Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Extensive experience in sports analytics , performance analysis, or a related field, with a proven track record of leading analytical projects.
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and data visualization tools.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a technical team.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
