Remote GIS Specialist - Mining

Our client is looking for a skilled and motivated Remote GIS Specialist to join their forward-thinking mining operations team. Operating from any location, you will be instrumental in managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data related to mineral exploration, mine planning, and environmental monitoring. You will work collaboratively with geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists who may be based at various operational sites, utilizing cutting-edge GIS technology to provide essential spatial intelligence and drive operational excellence, all within a fully remote work structure.

• Develop, maintain, and manage the company's Geographic Information System (GIS) databases.
• Create maps, spatial analysis, and visualizations to support exploration, mine planning, and environmental impact assessments.
• Integrate data from various sources, including geological surveys, satellite imagery, and drone data, into the GIS platform.
• Perform spatial analysis to identify potential mineral targets, optimize mine layouts, and monitor environmental changes.
• Provide GIS training and technical support to internal teams across different departments and locations.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in GIS technology and recommend new tools or methodologies.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GIS, with a focus on the mining or natural resources sector .
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS (Pro, Enterprise), QGIS, and related spatial databases.
• Experience with remote sensing data analysis and integration.
• Strong data management, analysis, and visualization skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fully remote team environment.
